Located south of Tulsa, Bixby is known for its competitive school system offering great academic and athletic opportunities. Known as one of the fastest-growing cities in Ok, Bixby has retained a friendly, small-town feel, with beautiful neighborhoods, numerous churches and many community amenities. The area parks, along with its extensive trail system significantly add to the community&rsquo;s quality of life. The 115-acre, Bentley Park Sports Complex was recently recognized for the &ldquo;Top Design in the State&rdquo; by The Oklahoma Recreational Sports Society. Bixby is also proud of its Washington Irving and Charley Young Parks. Lake Bixhoma is located just five miles southeast of Bixby on Leonard Mountain and is considered a nature lover&rsquo;s dream. Bixby was impacted and enriched by the discovery of nearby natural gas deposits in 1905-1906 and oil fields in 1913, but farming remained the backbone of the community well into the 20th Century.&nbsp;Early farmers focused on production of&nbsp;cotton,&nbsp;wheat&nbsp;and&nbsp;alfalfa&nbsp;in the rich river bottom. During the 1930s, truck farming of&nbsp;vegetables&nbsp;slowly replaced those crops. In 1941, Bixby became an important regional center for shipping produce by railroads. It was at that time that Bixby was christened with its nickname "The Garden Spot of Oklahoma," a designation still carried on the town seal and public vehicles.&nbsp;Cantaloupes,&nbsp;potatoes,&nbsp;radishes,&nbsp;squash,&nbsp;turnips,&nbsp;spinach&nbsp;and&nbsp;sweet corn&nbsp;were shipped from Bixby all over the U.S. In time, the majority of the truck farms were converted to the production of&nbsp;sod, typically&nbsp;Bermuda grass, or developed for residential and other purposes. Only a small percentage of Bixby residents now work in&nbsp;agriculture, but the town continues to celebrate its earthy roots with the yearly "Green Corn Festival" in June.
As of the 2010 census, there were 20,884 people, 7,658 households, and 5,295 families residing in the city. The&nbsp;population density&nbsp;was 889.3 people per square mile (344/km2). There were 8,187 housing units at an average density of 319.8 per square mile (94.9/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 84.2%&nbsp;White, 1.6%&nbsp;African American, 5.9%&nbsp;Native American, 1.6%&nbsp;Asian, 0.01%&nbsp;Pacific Islander, 1.9% from&nbsp;other races, and 4.8% from two or more races.&nbsp;Hispanic&nbsp;or&nbsp;Latino of any race were 4.9% of the population.&nbsp;There were 7,658 households, out of which 30.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% were&nbsp;married couples&nbsp;living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 19.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.12.

Bixby

As the fourth largest city in Oklahoma, and the second fastest growing city in the state, Broken Arrow Real Estate is highly sought-after. Claremore is a city and the county seat of Rogers County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 18,581 at the 2010 census, a 17.1 percent increase from 15,873 at the 2000 census.

Collinsville is a city in Rogers and Tulsa counties in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, and a part of the Tulsa, Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was named for Dr. A. H. Collins, an engineer and surveyor who first surveyed the land that became this community.

<h2 class="subhead1 ">Formation of Coweta</h2>
<q>On an elevated, undulating prairie, at an altitude of about 800 feet above sea level in the choicest part of the Creek Nation lies the prosperous, attractive town of Coweta...such is the location of this live town. A happier, a more fortunate choice for a town location could not have been made</q>.
This quote was taken from Coweta&rsquo;s first newspaper, The Courier, in about 1903. But, that&nbsp;<q>fortunate choice for a town</q>&nbsp;was made about 80 years earlier, during the Removal of the Five Civilized Tribes from the Eastern United States to the to the&nbsp;<q>West</q>&nbsp;or Oklahoma as it is called today.

<h2 class="subhead1 ">Early Settlers</h2>
In 1827, William McIntosh, along with Creeks from Coweta, Broken Arrow, Lochapoka and Big Spring arrived at the&nbsp;<q>Three Forks</q>&nbsp;of the Arkansas, Verdigris and Grand Rivers. By 1839 and 1840, these settlers had spread northward along the Arkansas River where Coweta, Broken Arrow and Tulsa are today. In 1843, white missionaries arrived in Coweta to teach the Indian children.
Reverend Robert Loughridge and his wife, Olivia, bought an empty cabin for ten dollars and began teaching. He named the mission&nbsp;<q>Koweta</q>. Olivia and her child are buried in the Bruner Family Cemetery on the Hopping Farm a mile and a half southeast of Coweta.
During the Civil War, the mission was abandoned. In 1867, the Creeks adopted a constitution which divided their nation into six districts.
<h2 class="subhead1 ">Geography, Courthouse, &amp; Allotment of Tribal Lands</h2>
The Coweta district was comprised of Creek land northeast of the Arkansas River which included Tulsa. The political center of the Coweta district was a one-room long courthouse built on the banks of the Coweta Creek. This was about one-fourth mile west of downtown Coweta.
The Dawes Commission, appointed by the United States Congress, negotiated the allotment of tribal lands in 1898. At this time, the Creek court&rsquo;s jurisdiction was given to the Federal government. In 1903, the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad built a line from Tulsa to Muskogee with Coweta as a stop. This was the beginning of Coweta&rsquo;s major growth.
<h3 class="subhead2 ">Professions</h3>
The first newspaper began publication, a telephone line was installed, and a school was built. The discovery of oil and statehood brought more white settlers to Coweta. There were:

Coweta

Prior to Oklahoma statehood, Grove was part of the Delaware District of the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory. It was named for a grove of trees where it was sited. A post office, named "Brennen", was located in the limits of present-day Grove in 1888, but the city was not incorporated until the 1890s, making it the only incorporated town in Delaware County when Oklahoma became a state.
The city underwent a $3.7 million park project to attract fishing events to Grand Lake, most recently attracting the 2013 and 2016 Bassmaster Classic. Grove is also home to the Grand Lake Casino, which was opened in 1988.

Jenks

Miami began in an unusual way, compared to other towns in Indian Territory. Per the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture "... it was settled in a business-like way by men of vision who looked into the future and saw possibilities. It didn't just grow. It was carefully planned."
W. C. Lykins petitioned the U.S. Congress to pass legislation on March 3, 1891 to establish the town. He met with Thomas F. Richardville, chief of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, who agreed to meet in turn with the U.S. Indian Commission and the Ottawa tribe. That meeting resulted in Congress authorizing the secretary of the Interior Department to approve the townsite purchase from the Ottawas. Lykins, Richardville and Manford Pooler, chief of the Ottawa, are identified in historical accounts as "fathers of Miami." Lykins' company, the Miami Town Company, bought 588 acres (238 ha) of land from the Ottawa for ten dollars an acre. On June 25&ndash;26, 1891 they held an auction of lots. In 1895, Miami incorporated and had more than 800 residents.
The discovery of rich deposits of lead and zinc under Quapaw land a few miles north caused Miami to boom. In 1907, at the time of statehood, its population was 1,893, which increased as mining was established to 6,802 by 1920.
Miami was on the route of the Jefferson Highway established in 1915, with that road running more than 2,300 miles from Winnipeg, Manitoba to New Orleans, Louisiana. It was later on Route 66, and still has an historic Original Nine-Foot Section of Route 66 Roadbed.
It is the capital of the&nbsp;Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, after which it is named, the&nbsp;Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma,&nbsp;Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma,&nbsp;Peoria Tribe of Indians&nbsp;and&nbsp;Shawnee Tribe.
